Evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties of 410NiMo as an overlay layer on low alloy steel

The aim of this study is to reach an increased service life for parts using in sour environment by weld overlaying process. In this investigation, two successive layers of ER410NiMo were clad on low alloy steel substrates. To reduce the likelihood of Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC) and producing stable hydrogen traps, Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) was conducted. Microstructural analysis, X-ra...

Effect of Heat Treatment Parameters on the Mechanical and Microstructure Properties of Low-Alloy Steel

This study examines the effect of heat treatment at three different temperatures of 800 ̊C, 950 ̊C and 1100 ̊C on the microstructure and mechanical properties of low-alloy steel with an addition of manganese, chrome and lead. To determine an impact of the applied heat treatment operations, testing of mechanical properties and microstructural examinations of the steel with 0.23%, 0.24%, 0.29% and 0...

The Effects of Carbon Nanotubes on the Mechanical and Wear Properties of AZ31 Alloy

Carbon nanotube (CNT)-reinforced AZ31 matrix nanocomposites were successfully fabricated using a powder metallurgy method followed by hot extrusion. The influence of CNTs on microstructures, mechanical properties, and wear properties were systematically investigated by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), hardness test, tensile test, and wear tes...

Effects of Solidification Time on Mechanical Properties and Wear Behaviour of Sand Cast Aluminium Alloy

An investigation was carried out to understand the effects of solidification time of the cylindrical specimen on hardness, wear rate and the coefficient of friction of Aluminium alloy (LM4). The commercially available LM4 Aluminium alloy was melted in a crucible furnace under argon atmosphere. The molten metal was poured into sand moulds having dissimilar size holes. The cast rods were tested f...
